Dr. George Perry

Professor, Texas A&M University

Dr. Perry was raised in south-central Texas on a small cattle operation. He received his bachelor’s degree in animal science from Texas A&M University. He obtained a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in reproductive physiology from the University of Missouri, with a large portion of his doctoral research conducted at the USDA research station in Miles City, Montana. Dr. Perry was a faculty member and Beef Reproduction extension specialist in the animal Science department at South Dakota State University for 17 years. He now serves as a Professor with Texas AgriLife at the Overton Research Center. His research efforts are in the area of factors that influence reproductive efficiency, pregnancy success, and embryo mortality. Some of his current research has focused on understanding why variations occur between herds, the impact of vaccination of reproductive success, and factors impacting sperm longevity.  He has been invited to speak at numerous national and international conferences on reproductive efficiency in beef cattle, and his research program has published numerous manuscripts on reproductive efficiency.
